Keeping our promises

“Don’t respect someone for making a promise.
Respect them for keeping it”

When Clean for Good was launched, we made three promises – to cleaners, to customers and to the planet. But are we delivering on them?

Our promise to cleaners

Clean for Good has built a reputation for treating its cleaners fairly and ensuring they not only have decent employment terms and conditions, but also respect and dignity at work.

We are a business with a social purpose, and we work hard on delivering that social purpose.

We measure our impact. For example, 87% of the cleaners we have recruited in 2019 got a pay rise by moving to the London Living Wage. Our decent terms and conditions also mean that we look after them in other ways too – through better pensions, sick pay and holidays.

We aim to lead the cleaning sector in setting the standard for what ‘good work’ looks like.

Our promise to customers

But is our cleaning any good?

For us, delivering a good, professional, reliable cleaning service is fundamental. We don’t just make a promise to our cleaners, we also make a promise to our customers – to deliver an excellent service to them.

We talk to our customers regularly, visit their buildings, respond to queries promptly and also undertake a regular email survey to test satisfaction.

We’re delighted to say that our most recent survey (September 2019) achieved a great response rate from our customers (42%). They also gave us some great feedback.

  • Every customer who replied was satisfied with our service (100%!)

  • 83% gave us top marks for satisfaction (‘very satisfied’)

  • When asked how we responded when they raised issues with us, our lovely customers also gave us top marks – 100% said we were ‘excellent’ at responding

Of course, statistics are not everything. We love nice feedback, but we also know we are obviously not perfect and that we need to keep listening and working hard. That never stops.

We aim to lead the cleaning sector in the quality of the service we provide.

A promise to our children

The third promise we have made is to future generations. We have chosen to set high environmental standards as a company to ‘tread lightly’ on our planet.

This is why we minimise the use of chemicals. When chemicals are needed, we use the best biodegradable chemicals – independently eco-certified products. No fluffy claims, no messing about, just the real thing. We minimise our carbon use too – we have no fleet of vans and our managers and cleaners use public transport. Our eco-approach is set out in another blog.

We aim to lead the sector in our environmental approach, and are delighted that more new customers are now approaching us for this reason.

Triple bottom line

We launched this business to be the best cleaning company in London – good for cleaners, good for customers and good for London. As you can see, we are working hard to make this a reality.
